Lunar Eclipse February 20th 2008 Eastern Sky of Adams County from starting about 7:45 pm A lunar eclipse happens when the light from the sun is shadowed by the earth on the moon. Basically the Earth gets in between the Sun and the Moon and casts a shadow on the moons surface. A solar eclipse on the other hand is when the moon gets in between the earth and the sun and the moon casts a shadow on the earth. (CAUTION: You need to have protective eyewear to view a Solar Eclipse do to the brightness of the Sun).
